Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy that can offer a wide range of benefits for young people, particularly those under the age of 16. As children and teenagers navigate school, social pressures, and the increasing demands of modern life, supporting their emotional and physical wellbeing has never been more important. Reflexology provides a calming, restorative experience that can help bring balance to both body and mind.
One of the key benefits of reflexology for young people is its ability to reduce stress and anxiety. This is especially valuable during exam periods, when many teenagers experience heightened pressure, worry, and difficulty switching off. Many young clients report feeling more settled, focused, and better able to cope with the challenges of exams after a session.
Sleep is another area where reflexology can make a noticeable difference. Teenagers often struggle with disrupted sleep patterns, particularly during stressful times such as exams. By promoting relaxation and reducing tension, reflexology can support improved sleep quality, helping young people feel more rested, energised, and ready to take on their day.
In addition to supporting emotional wellbeing, reflexology may also help with common physical complaints in younger clients, such as headaches, digestive discomfort, and general tension. It provides a safe, nurturing space where they can fully relax, which in itself can be incredibly beneficial for overall wellbeing.
I am pleased to share that I will soon be offering reflexology treatments for under 16s. At present, I am awaiting my enhanced DBS check to come through, after which these treatments will officially become available. This is an important step in ensuring a safe and professional environment for younger clients and their families.
Once available, reflexology sessions for children under 16 will be offered at a reduced rate of £25 for a 40 minute treatment. My aim is to make this supportive therapy accessible to more families, particularly during times when young people may need it most, such as exam periods.
For the safety and comfort of all young clients, it is essential that anyone under the age of 16 is accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the entire treatment. This ensures that both the child and parent feel at ease and fully informed about the process.
Reflexology is a wonderful way to support young people’s wellbeing in a natural and calming way. Whether it’s helping to ease exam stress, improve sleep, or simply provide a moment of relaxation, it can be a valuable addition to a young person’s self-care routine.
